Firstly, the main purpose of an advert is for the product to sell and to create more profit than what the advert initially cost to produce and distribute. Advertisers have to try and 'absorb' or 'immerse' the consumer into the product itself. As advertisers will want to squeeze as much product information into a short space of time, it may be difficult for the consumer to process all of the information. In order for an advert to be successful and more beneficial for the consumer, it may contain some of these attributes:
- Originality
- Celebrity Backing
- Persuasive
- Target Audience
- Creative use of text and colour
- Comedy
- Brand name/image
These example attributes are what can help make an advert be successful, if you can persuade a consumer to go out and purchase your product after viewing an advert, then the product will be deemed as a 'success'.
